I forgot about the HF trailer as an option. Grant, somebody in your club with a blue base 986 had this setup last year at WG and it worked well for him. Pedro--how stable is this trailer at highway speeds? Does this come with electrical hookups for the brake lights or do you have to add it?by MikenOH - Main Forum
When I go to a distant track--VIR/WG--I usually have somebody carry my track tires in their vehicle or in their trailer. Most of the guys that trailer their cars have enough room either in the back of the truck or in their trailer to handle another set of tires. The ROW 030 sounds like a great deal, especially if you can find one used; I'll keep an eye peeled for one. Also, Pedro's deal on theby MikenOH - Main Forum
My wife had 3 of these-- 2 RX-7's and 1 RX-8; the RX-7's were fun to drive and very reliable. The RX-8 was a great idea that had major quality control problems, besides an engine that sucked up gas & oil, besides being down on TQ and power. Having said that, I thought the RX-8 was a great platform; always wondered how it might have been had they decided to put the Mazda Speed 4 cyl. turboby MikenOH - Main Forum
QuoteTrygve (Alameda, CA) I noticed that one of the two rubber ducts in the center rear of the car is gone, and I've yet to locate a part number for these. I'm talking about the ones you see hanging below the middle of the car when driving behind a Boxster, that seem to route air flow from under the middle of the car up and around the transmission. Anyone know the part number? Trygve: I think Iby MikenOH - Main Forum
Sounds like a big improvement, Grant; glad they've worked out for you. With these sticky tires now you need a good track pad/fluid--what are you using now? At the risk of sounding like a broken record, any plans for a second set of rims for your non track tires? I have to say, driving street tires at the track is just a loosing proposition--they get chewed up fast, while not providing the steerby MikenOH - Main Forum
Spot on--excellent points. I Live in a rural area, drive mostly interstates--rarely in the big cities and if this device is sold as advertised, I get penalized since I drive more than the average--because I live farther out. The simple question to this--and I think the insurers already know this--is how many under 25 drivers are on the policy, what's your driving record and how far do you driveby MikenOH - Main Forum
Quotemikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC as I have paid extra to have a sunroof in each of our current cars only because they come in a package and you can't get the car without one. Neither has been opened more than once. 100 in the golf car today. Agreed; did this on a MB E class and an E90 BMW. Absolutely no cars were being imported without them and we rarely opened them. The GY F1 Asym on the car have more than a few miles on them--close to 20K on the fronts--and a few track events, when either the weather was too cold or wet for the track tries. Anyway, they have worn well--8/32" on the fronts--but I noticed a bit of cupping on the outside blocks, with the trailing edge of the tread block lower than the leading edge I can't say I notice any real wobbling or oddby MikenOH - Main Forum
thanks Jaay--how much more room do you gain by going with the 987 engine cover?by MikenOH - Main Forum
Regarding the intake system, can you substitute a 3.2L intake out of 986 instead of the 996 3.4L intake? I ask since It's my understanding the additional height of the 996 setup might cause some problems in a 986 installation. If the 3.2L setup won't work, are there alternatives? thanks for any help.by MikenOH - Main Forum

Quotejwdbox QuoteDougW Yes that's what I thought when I saw it, I asked the Porsche Rep. and he confirmed that it was smaller. It didn't seem quite as deep and seemed a bit shorter from front to back. I have fit two golf carry bags in mine and don't think that would work in the new Boxster. Still much more room than some of the hard top cabs. out there. Interesting. I carry a full size cart baby MikenOH - Main Forum
When I had the the stock alignment setup changed for one that was more track oriented , the dealer tech was able to get -1.0 in front and -2.0 in the rear with zero toe in front and just a bit of toe in on the rear. The tires have worn well (GY F1 Asym) with about 20K on the fronts (7/32 tread) and the 8/32 in the rear (second set with 10K on them). Before I replaced the rears, they had 5/32 onby MikenOH - Main Forum

Yes, this is 93 octane but typically most stations around here only offer 93 octane--Marathon, BP are the biggies. Plus is about $.10 more/gal.--as it has been.by MikenOH - Main Forum
First tank up since the car came out last month--haven't driven it much but that will end this weekend. Regular at a station off an interstate was priced at $3.55/gal so I pulled in; when I glanced at the premium price it was $4.02/gal or $.47 more than regular. My recollection was premium around here ran about +$.25/gal. than regular; anybody else seeing the pricing differential between regulby MikenOH - Main Forum

C&D did a test a few years back on these and they had the highest level of dry traction in their group but became iffy on a wet track which i can attest to. If you're not going to drive these on a wet track then the only issue is how they'd handle a wet drive to and from the track. BTW, these wore like iron and didn't seem to require as much camber as some tires do. No 255/40/17 in the R-Sby MikenOH - Main Forum
