I coulda sworn I saw Chris in NH (he had well over 150k miles on his Boxster I think), say that he only changed his oil at the 15k mile intervals. I also think Marc said that for much of his miles driven, he also went with the factory recommendations until recently when he started changing the oil more often (he can verify whether I remembered correctly or not). Honestly, I don't think the intervby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
IMHO, unless you track your car often (in which case I think this contraption can have its uses), I think the whole thing is silly. Don't get me wrong...I love my Boxster and have enjoyed it for over 10 yrs, and continue to. IMO, if it ain't broke,... You know the saying. Besides, I'm the type that would really dislike having that sorta engine fail warning light in my car...every time I driveby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Lol Pedro. Fair enough. I guess it's good stuff for some, and not for others. that's why I put a YMMV in there.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Well, it looks like on their website, for an extra charge, they offer you an engine support "lifeeline", so I don't know what that is, but sounds like the benefit is to them...a way for them to advise you to get the car over to them to do the retrofit and/or offer you other additional things they can charge you for. That's a neat little gadget they got going there...I mean I bet my home HVAC conby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
If your model year has the electronic trunk release buttons in the cabin doorsill area, it could just be that there is dirt/sand stuck in the toggle switch. Happened to me before. Just lift the button and blow some compressed air in there to clear any debris, and the trunk should stop opening on its own.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
That's terrific Dan! Glad to hear it worked out so well for you and your wife. My Box now sits in snow tires in anticipation of the cold winter here in NJ. Happy holidays to you.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
That's awesome JM. I woulda thought she would name a Pcar.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Good to see you are in a climate where you can drive the Boxster top down all yr long if you wanted to.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I think that's where Gundo bought his 997s. I've visited the dealer during a TSBL run, but have never serviced my Boxster there. The people there seemed nice enough, but I'm sure the service cost won't be cheap. Good luck.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
You need to just chill and stop reading all the negative stuff about IMS, and just enjoy your car. You haven't experienced any engine related problems yet on your beautiful seal grey 987 S, right? So, just enjoy it and relax. If the whole engine thing gets to your mind too much, then I suggest you offload the car and be done with it. There's plenty of people that would love your car and use it aby CarreraLicious - Main Forum

I find that in the Boxster, a lot of folks in taller SUVs don't see you as they are lane changing, and end up almost driving right into me even though I pretty much always have my headlights on. I don't have such an issue when driving my SUV. Glad to hear you avoided the accident.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I have Hankook Icebears in 17" 255/40 size in the rears. I just threw my winter 17's on last weekend in prep for the cold winter...Have had em for 2 snow seasons, and they work great. Got em from Discount Tire, as TireRack didn't have em.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Nice Guenter. We had a nice 69F day here in NJ, and I got the chance to also take the Box out for a top down drive. Forgot how nice it was to drive these cars.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
It's worth it if you think it's worth it. IMHO, for me, it's not worth it. I can see how it can be an absolute requirement for aircraft, as if the engine fails up in the air, the aircraft is going down, but on a car? Come on! If I have to go so far as putting in an engine failure warning device in my supposed high quality brand name car, then the car sucks. There's too many other cool cars out thby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Yep, you can put the covers back on if you ever sell the child seat/tether package.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
You remove those when you have the Porsche child seat installed.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I've done this, and you definitely do not need to remove the radio. It is a biatch to get the old plug out though...took me a few seconds to get the panel out...it just pulls out, but the plug is hard to remove. There are instructions on how to do it on Renntech.org. Just do a search on cigarette plug removal there.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
In my experience, both the front and back trunks get kinda warm. I'd put the cake in the pass side footwell, and then direct the a/c to the floor vents to keep the cake cool for those 3 hrs.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Happened on my 01 too. You have to get a whole new stalk assembly (about $200), and remove the steering wheel to replace it. Dealer will charge you about $300 for the whole job including parts. Ask me how I know.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Sure is Clif. Glad to see you enjoyed Hershey! Those treats you wrote about made my mouth water. Lol.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Thanks Guenter. Yeah, I totally forgot how nice that flat 6 with my desnorked intake sounded.....especially when the top is down. Funny that the tires didn't seem flat spotted this time either...guess the warm weather negated that. The car just felt so right. My 50 mile daily roundtrip commute to/from work may just get more exciting from now on. Glad to see you are out enjoying her as well.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Cause I've been so busy at work, and the long/harsh winter here, my Boxster had been in storage in my garage for about 5 months. In the cold months, I hardly missed driving the Boxster, as I took the trusty FX35 to/from work for my daily commute everyday, but now that temps hit above 70F today, I couldn't resist anymore. Took the car cover off, unplugged the battery maintainer, checked my tire pby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
John, I'm pretty sure your model year does not require a trip to dealer to upgrade to the 125 MAF. You can just drop it in. If you want, you can have my old 125 MAF. I replaced it with a new one at 60k miles just for the heck of it, and think my old one is still good. Let me know.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Very pliable, and if you get hungry while on a mountain drive somewhere, you can snack on your top.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Hi Guenter, after I put the industrial strength velcro on the underside of the Lloyds mats, they held ok...not as secure as the OEM setup, as they are sewn in the mat, but for my purposes, just fine. They didn't ride up on the pedals at all. The Lloyds mats do feel more plush, sorta like a nice soft bathroom mat that you put next to your bathtub, but I actually prefer my car mats to be thin/lighby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I have had Lloyds mats in my car, and really dislike their plastic belt buckle snap system. It makes it a pain to remove when you need to pull the mats out to clean them. The OEM velcro set up allows you or anyone else (say at a hand car wash place), just yank them out quickly. JMHO. In fact, I hated the Lloyds setup so much, I ended up cutting off the buckle strap from the mats, and just put Veby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
