Marc, I don't plan on using the car until I get whatever is wrong fixed. I was just curious if they can be push started in an emergency like manual transmission cars could years ago.by Wayne K - Main Forum
Thank you for all the replies. To answer boxsterra's questions it does turn over and starts normally or it just just does nothing or one click sound and nothing. From my experience it does act like a dead or low battery but I ruled that out because of the age of the battery and it is always on the maintainer when not in use, plus the fact that it turns over and starts as normal when it does worby Wayne K - Main Forum
I'm having a starting issue with my 04 GT3. I think it has the same ignition switch as my 02 Boxster S and I am wondering if this ignition switch can be the cause of the problem. First I can tell you that the battery is 18 months old and always on a Porsche maintainer. The car only has about 9,000 miles on it. When I turn the key to the start position I get nothing or just one click like a baby Wayne K - Main Forum
Pedro, My take from your post is the previous change did not show any signs of metal or did it. Also I assume the picture is of the inside of the filter that has been cut open. Please confirm. Wayne Kby Wayne K - Main Forum
Quotegrant 1. In the rear, jack under the diagonal braces, where they connect to the sub-frame. This point takes most of the weight of the car all the time and is super strong. 2. In the front, a better place, i think, is the "boomerang" and its 3 bolts, where the sub-frame bolts to the frame rail. Again, this is what supports your car. And unlike the frame rail noted above and by wayne, you wonby Wayne K - Main Forum

When I changed the battery in my 02 Boxster I bought one of those 9 volt things you pug into the lighter socket and changed out the battery. Every worked just fine. I've used it on other vehicles with same results. I think this is a safe way to change out batteries and not do any hard or lose anything.by Wayne K - Main Forum
QuoteNaples986 n/t If you want to keep it and repair it yourself buy it back for salvage value. I had a new Sonata for rental for a week. I thought it offered a lot of value and features for the price and looks like a more exspensive car than it is. It is a blessing that you were not seriously injured and I wish you full recovery. Better things in the new year ahead. Wayne Kby Wayne K - Main Forum
" Our xmas present showed up today; pickup up tomorrow. My wife gets to drive it first.....................GR981" Nice. Enjoy in good health.by Wayne K - Main Forum
Thank you for your responses. Marc, just so you understand the purge valve does not open unless I manually open it. I had to add some coolant because I believe the cap was bad and I wanted to make sure that there wasn't any air in the system. I bought the latest version cap and installed it after topping up coolant and then opened the purge valve and went through the procedure. When finishedby Wayne K - Main Forum
I used the proper procedure to bleed the coolant system. I pulled up the metal tabe to raise the bleed valve. Went through the procedure but when I went to close the valve the metal tab went back down but the valve didn't. I slowly opened the cap and as the pressure escaped the valve closed. Is this the way the valve should fuction or should it close even under pressure?by Wayne K - Main Forum
I have Mintex Red Box in my Boxster and they are low dusting, quiet, and good bite when cold. My son has Hawk HPS pads in his car and he says the same about them. Just google either brand name and you will find many suppliers. The Mintex have the holes for the wear sensors but I don't know about the Hawks.by Wayne K - Main Forum
Quotedb997S not sure why, but I always do enjoy it. It feels freer. Or, maybe it feels more isolated, yet open, than in a flashy car during the day where all the world can see you. At night time, it all is headlights and tail lights I agree. I seldom drive with the top down after 9 AM or before 6 PM. Too hot for me.by Wayne K - Main Forum
The road surface may have been contaminated with the rain spreading it over a larger area.by Wayne K - Main Forum
I always have unplugged the battery maintainer before starting the car. Well I started it yesterday and it ran for about 30 seconds before I realized that it was plugged into the lighter socket and the wall outlet. I turned the car off and unplugged it and everything appears to be normal but I was wondering if some damage may have been done to the car or the maintainer.by Wayne K - Main Forum
Regarding the bent radiator fins. I would use a none metal object and straighten them just to get better air movement through that area.by Wayne K - Main Forum
I would say if you can't do it yourself I probably is best not to do it. What engine is in it ?by Wayne K - Main Forum
That console reminds me of a 70 Corvette I once owned.by Wayne K - Main Forum
Sounds like a keeper to me. I think if it was built Dec 98 then it would be an earlier built 99.by Wayne K - Main Forum
In the video why does the ignition need to be turned on and is it left on until procedure is completed ?by Wayne K - Main Forum
" checked brake/clutch fluid for replacement need, but less than 2% moisture content inspired mechanic not to change it, and I agreed " How do you check for water content ?by Wayne K - Main Forum
I would first do a test area with isopropyl alcohol. If it is sap or some other sticky stuff it should wipe off. If that doesn't get it I'd then test with mineral spirits. Next I would try clay.by Wayne K - Main Forum
If you do replace the thermostat check the new one for proper operation. I had a new one once that didn't work properly. Testing it before installing could save you from doing it over.by Wayne K - Main Forum
Those were and still car nice cars. A friend had a 1960 that I did some wrenching on in the 60's. As I recall it had 3 SUs and the exhaust exited just past the drivers door (side exhaust). It sounded really nice.by Wayne K - Main Forum
This link should tell you all you need to know. I have to admit that I have always used Castrol LMA DOT 4 brake fluid even if the mfg called for DOT 3 and to date haven't had any issues. I do a flush every 2 years.by Wayne K - Main Forum
