The VTX looks appealing. Thanks for the tip! Should the VTX headers and the Pedro's Sport Exhaust be enough for opening up the exhaust, as suggested for the TechnoPower Kit? Reference: *We recommend also installing headers and less restrictive exhaust for maximum HP and Torque gains.by bar10dah - Main Forum
Thanks for all the answers Pedro. Still haven't decided if I'll go with the 1.25" or 1.5" pipes, but I'll post pics of my Pedro Sport Exhaust when I get it done. Any particular (affordable) headers you recommend with the TechnoPower Kit and Pedro's Sport Exhaust?by bar10dah - Main Forum
The shop is saying 1.5" pipes would create quite a racket. Do you think it would be much louder than the 1.25"? If I do install the TechnoPower Kit, do I have to resend you the ECU, if/when I do install headers, to compensate for them?by bar10dah - Main Forum
Pedro, Went to local custom muffler shop with printout of DIY "Make the Pedro Sport Exhaust" in hand. Shop said if I brought them the muffler, they could do the work for $125-150. Seems reasonable enough? In your DIY, you said if you had to do it over again, you'd use 1.5" pipes. Why is that? Considering eventually doing the TechnoPower Kit. Not sure I want to upgrade the headers yet. Iby bar10dah - Main Forum

...might I ask some advice on offsets? I have OEM 7.5 x 18 w/50 mm fronts and 9 x 18 w/52 mm rears. Another OEM 18" option for my '99 are 8 x 18 w/50 mm and 10 x 18 w/47 mm. The wheels I'm considering are 8 x 18 w/ 54 mm fronts and either 9 x 18 w/ 43 mm or 10 x 18 w/40 mm rears. Appears the new fronts will have 10 mm less inner clearance and extend the outside edges by 2 mm from my current sby bar10dah - Main Forum
I haven't checked, but is it in the 101 projects book? Or try renntech.org.by bar10dah - Main Forum
...in AZ about 35 miles long, that goes between Bell Rd in Sun City and I-10 in Buckeye. It goes from the north and wraps around to the west of the White Tanks Mountains. Looks exactly like the roads in the video. Used to call it the "proving grounds" as it was only lightly traveled. So if you wanted to take your motorcycle to 170 MPH, you had plenty of room to move. I wouldn't be surprisedby bar10dah - Main Forum

...but, an oil question. Read Pedro's link to Porsche Approved oils. Read LN Engineering's stuff. Read bobistheoilguy. Read thread after thread of oil debates. Just need to narrow down my choices between two weights of Castrol oils. I'd like to buy the Castrol oil I constantly see recommended (not that any of the other choices are of lesser quality oils, NOT trying to start an oil debate,by bar10dah - Main Forum
QuotePedro (Weston, FL) Generally a dealer-sold MAF will last a looooooong time, while the aftermarket ones seem to have a much shorter life span. And something I wish I had read a month ago! On a recommendation from another forum, I bought this one for $90. Appears to be working as intended. But, according to your informant, may not last as long as an OEM Porsche marked one.by bar10dah - Main Forum
I just can't remember which website that was on. Maybe Mike Focke's?by bar10dah - Main Forum
...but, we'll see. So far, I've been 77 miles and the P0446 code has not returned. Usually, I'd get the code (in addition to P1124 and P1126) within 15-30 miles. I'll keep driving it and will report back.by bar10dah - Main Forum
...driving 1.5 miles, then parking overnight. So I thought it was because my tank was too full. But I've since had it at various tank levels. So not sure there's any correlation. I blew compressed air through the "purge air line." Or, at least what I think is the purge air line. Looking at diagrams, appears it's the line off the top of the charcoal canister. Now, just have to wait to see iby bar10dah - Main Forum
Replaced my AOS about 2 days and 30 miles ago. Took my j-tube off so I could to the throttle body cleaning. Noticed oil inside the tube, which I cleaned out when I replaced my AOS. Looked into the opening in the AOS and saw a puddle of oil right there on the inside of the lip of the opening. Normal? Or do I have problems?by bar10dah - Main Forum
Using Durametric, I can't hear anything operate/click/whatever when I activate the Fuel Evaporative Valve. Is this normal? Or did that part fail? Is "Fuel Evaporative Valve" just another way of saying "Purge Valve for Fuel Vapor Canister?" Mine's a '99 Box and I'm chasing a P0446 code .by bar10dah - Main Forum

QuoteTrygve (Alameda, CA) a) Poke a hole, or route through the edge of, the black plastic cover panel behind the blue filler cap. This cover sits directly over the fuse box and relay panel by the driver's left foot. Didn't need to punch a hole. That cover easily unscrews, the flat telephone like wire lays flat against the foam gasket, recover and screw down. The foam gasket appears to form arby bar10dah - Main Forum
...if there's also a route to take from the front driver's side intake to get into the trunk. I was going to try to look for grommets today, but it rained all day. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to get out there and look. Thanks for the tip about the wiring route for the CD changer. That should work great!by bar10dah - Main Forum
Will be installing a Qi45 into my '99 Box this weekend. Want to run a sensor wire from the front driver's side intake, through the firewall, and into the dash area. Off-hand, anyone know of a good route to take to go through the firewall? Possibly where a rubber grommet is?by bar10dah - Main Forum
I never noticed the front ambers being on or not on my '99 so after reading your post I went out and looked at my car. They weren't lit up with the headlight switch one click to the right but they do flash with the turn signals. So I thought mine were burned out, at least the parking light part of it. But when I took the headlight out and pulled out the front amber light bulb, I noticed it wasby bar10dah - Main Forum
My plastic window broke when I was opening the top on a 60-ish degree F day. A local top install shop told me most manufacturers do not recommend opening the top when the temps are below 68 degrees. The glass top didn't cost much more. Since I like driving with the top down, even when it's 50 degrees out, I figure I'd just get the glass top so I won't have to worry about breaking another plastby bar10dah - Main Forum
I know you solved your problem, but if you or anyone else wants DIY instructions on replacing the actuator: I followed these instructions and was able to replace mine fairly quickly and easily.by bar10dah - Main Forum
QuoteJohn99Boxster I still wonder what the thing is sticking out next to the pin??? It looks like the retention ring that's supposed to fit around the plunger (the thing that slides forward to lock the fuel filler door). The retention ring is part of the backup release for the fuel filler door. The other end of it is in the door jamb, above the top hinge, when you open up the passenger door.by bar10dah - Main Forum
