This coming winter I will try to buy the Michelin Alpins.... I think overall, Michelin have the best tires. I had Dunlop's and they were great but didn't last too long. I had Blizzaks that were fantastic in the snow and rain but awful mushy performance in the dry... they rolled over and made noise in hard turns... they could be fun in that you can throttle steer at a near stop ... worse thingby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

"Push hard in corners, and you’ll find under-steer; lift abruptly off the throttle, and the front scrub becomes an easy-to-control four-wheel pirouette." This is far from neutral and not good. My 2000 S under-steered a bit at the track and the word was add 2 pounds in the front tires each which made the car very very neutral. Same tire issue with the new ones or is it just more "safe"?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
What happened that whole "healing paint" thing?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Don't worry it's not too bad. I have 195K miles on my 2000S (150K on the engine). I still love the car and it still looks and runs very well, but I do take very very good care of it.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
My indy is an ex-Porsche shop foreman and has his own shop now. He does the replacement and is neutral on advising for/against it. He has done quite a few now and he has pulled out a few that were failing.... no noise or symptoms, but clearly failing. These engines were clearly saved. He also pulled out many more that appeared perfect. So should you do it? I dunno. Given my value systemby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I copied this from another forum..... I haven't tried it... but this was quite the buzz many years ago on the old PPBB: ---------------------------------- From Ferd - Thanks! Porsche AC Diagnostics (undocumented, unsupported feature) The AC Climatronic unit is actually manufactured by Audi. There is some sort of serial data stream (not CAN) that allows the AC unit to display engine parameters.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
That "cement" is sand/dirt that really hardened. What I found to be really bizarre, is that some of the leaves were quite whole (or large pieces). Now how did they get back in there? I thought that the debris was stuff that got through the A/C grill and therefore small particles. Hmmmm..... Anyway, all better now.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Thanx.... I have the RoadAtlanta PDFs .... just missed the rivet. But the scoop I am missing is a snap in for the wheel liner..... it looks like it is not a separate part but sold with the whole liner. It goes in that triangle in front of the "rubber lip". Odd that it is even missing from my car. Thanx again.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Thanx again: 1 - Wheel liner snaps/fasteners 2 - Drivers side brake scoop The brake scoop is missing.... this is the insert that snaps into the wheel liner and is just in front of that rubber lip/flap in front of the tire. Why the heck it was missing is... well who the heck knows. I checked a parts diagram catalog I have but it does not seem to have these things.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Thanx all for you help with my 2000 S with 194K miles. The bad: ..... replaced resistor and fan still does not work. Oh well...... I jumped the gun thinking it was the ballast resistor. I guess the fan is dead. The other fan works fine and runs at both speeds. Not sure if I will tackle that again..... maybe... dunno. Could it be something else? The good: Cleaned the radiators.... yuck!by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Yes, I will take some photos..... I do have a horn that craps out intermittently..... and I can paint those things no big deal.... Great ideas.. thanx. Flat black?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Just talked to a friend, he is bringing up some jack stands..... I am going to replace the resistor and clean the radiators. I have three local dealers and hope at least one will have the part. So, to use the "logic" of my wife, if I screw it up, it is your fault !!!! All of you! Anything else I should do when I am in there? Move the cable to the tow hole? Search for contraband?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Thanx for you help. The driver's side fan is dead. The other works and runs at two speeds. I never cleaned the radiators and I have 194K miles on the car...... I guess I should eh? Best links for DIY? I found Skyler's stuff....... and about how long does it take an amateur to do this? Thanx Bruceby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I just took the whole assembly apart and you can't adjust the tension. The tension is actually provided within the visor and not in the mount as I thought. I popped out the vanity light assembly and you would have to remove the vinyl covering to get at the axle by stretching, and I think doing damage. Forget it.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
For the past year or so.... very randomly I think....... I would hear a fan spinning down when I shut my car off in my garage. Kind of a VVVvvvvv sound. Could this be related? Issue? How do I lower my bad cholesterol?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
2000S, 194K miles on chassis, 144K on engine. I have seen my engine temps rise for the 1st time in 12 years of ownership. The temp gauge is usually solid as a rock on the "0" of 180 and virtually never wavered regardless of ambient temperatures or how I was driving. But over the last few weeks in the hot temps (but not abnormal) of the North East, my engine temps are rising. Even when ambienby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
he means just stick it between the visor and where it hits the pillar frame. I stick a paper napkin there at it works. I think I will just take it apart and see what I see...by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
2000 S..... My driver visor is vibrating against the top and making noise. How do I tighten up the friction?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

Tale of glory: Passed a big SUV who spun out on the highway in a heavy snow. I waved (they were being helped). Snow performance is totally determined by tires and with good ones, it is really an amazing car in the snow.. and I don't mean "for a sports car". The best winter tires I had were Dunlops but wore quickly. I had Blizzaks: fantastic in snow and rain, mushy and rollover performance, nby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I was washing my car 2000 S, now with almost 195K miles, and I am noticing that my driver seat is starting to look a bit ratty. It definitely is losing support and feeling a bit crushed. So, I am thinking about replacing the seats if I can get a low price. So.... 1 - Anyone know where I can snag a few seats? (I suspect I would need two to ensure dye and wear matching) 2 - What models and yeaby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

Ummm.... and what is the matter with a construction workers in stilettos? If the are black with a little strap and clasp..........by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
When the Boxster came out, all the hails of amazing performance were all on 16" wheels. When I purchased my 2000 S, it had the option of 18" which I promplty rejected. I looked up the prices of 17" vs 18" tires and quickly said "this is stupid, what am I realy getting with 18", fashion?". I have a friend who purchased an Infinity with big wheels, don't remember the size, and he removed them asby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
