I hear a high pitched whine from this side when driving at a constant speed. My tires are newer, so it does not appear to be tire noise. Can I do more damage by driving the car in this condition? How can I check into it further? I have checked front wheel bearings before by pushing and pulling the tire at the top and then both sides. Or, can I do something else by jacking up the car? IMHO from the 45 degree view of the side from the front, the car looks very attractive. But the other 2 views shown above (270 degree view of the front and 210 degree view of the rear) are awkward. If the front intakes were smaller, I would like the front view (Although less efficient, I prefer the smaller intakes from the 986. It makes the front end look too heavy.). On the side view, the frontby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Do you mind sharing the cost? My rear window is split again. I intend to get a glass window and new canvas this time. What did you not like about the GAHH? Did you have any difficulties with the install? It looks like you removed the seats in the process. Thanks.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

About noon I had a truck turn left in front of me, but I easily slowed for that. Then, another car behind the truck tried to follow the truck's path. That second car (a young gal with friends in a civic or other econobox) started a left turn in front me with no space to complete her turn. I braked hard but the stopping distance was too short. So, I tried to move to my right (same direction as herby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I am not quite there yet, but getting close. 92,500 miles. What a fantastic car! I hope to never let go of mine.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I was in my car the other day. I parked far to the left on the last left parking stall. I was still in the car because I was finishing a call. Someone parked in the stall next to me and was to the far left of his stall. I looked at the beater car and decided that we would ding my doors when he opened it. So, I fired up the car and moved to another stall. I think I prevented one ding that day.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
The Porsche room is normally very uplifting and interesting. This year no special artwork, no racing type videos. Most of the cars were locked. No real debuts, unless you count the new Carrera makeover (Subtle changes. Defer to November's Excellence article for specifics.). Security guards watching every guest that sat in the cars. I was very disappointed, to say the least. No Ferrari area againby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
It has a lot of quality options. Start at this website: Then select water cooled, then Boxster/Boxster S, look for the post on the $12.5K car for sale (2001 S). If he does not sell by 11/25, he is trading it in.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

You can read the details on rennlist. I have always had to go to a Test Only facility for this car. I spent a few pretty pennies in the last few weeks to pass. The Boxster passes easily every time without any preparation.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

I checked weather.com and it showed a 30% chance of rain at the Lake. I figured that the rain would put a damper on things. I have been to the event several times. I check out the timeline then watch the oompa band and Oktoberfest festivities at the Lake Arrowhead Village (adjacent to the timeline). The band drinks after each song and gets pretty sauced up by the end of the day. Plenty of Chickby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Wrightwood. 60 miles of twisties that every Boxster owner would enjoy. You have to watch for cafe bike rirders and CHP until you hit Newcombs Ranch (~15 miles in). Thereafter you have the road to yourself, watching out for only rockfall debris and darting rodents.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I had a 1971 240Z. It was a very reliable and fun car. Though it did run hot. I added a 4 core radiator and an oil cooler to correct the issue. I also changed the SU carbs to Webers and the throttle response improved dramatically. I have it for 17+ years. I sold it to a Japanese factory purchaser. Mine was selected as one of the factory reconditioned models. It was common knowledge that the 1973by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
Yesterday I was watching the Baltimore ALMS race. One of the 911s crashed during qualifying (The TRG entry? Over-steered back end into the wall.). The announcer said that it was great that they got the car back together for race day. My questions: Are they really repairing the crashed car or are they substituting a spare car in its place? I assume that the car had extensive uni-body rear end dby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum

My thought process on the bulb replacements was similar (Those that get the most use). But, I may replace all of the idiot lights since these always illuminate on start-up. I have a little over 91K miles on the car. If one of these went out in the near future and I didn't spend the extra $50 or $60 to replace all.....I would be pissed.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
As I remember, it was very helpful and concise. Extra emphasis should be made that the prongs on the bottom of the cluster are very sharp. Don't ask my dash how we know.by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I had the clock backlight go out about 2 1/2 years ago, so I know how to R & R the cluster. This time I am going to replace all the bulbs. I don't want to do this again soon. I have a printout from a PPBB old post (Chris in NH- 1/14/08) that shows the back of the cluster and he describes some of the bulb wattages. The dealer tells me that they only know that there are 3 light bulb types (3by Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
This is for the rears on an '00 S. The R & R looks simple enough. But, is it recommended that the sway bar comes off? Also, should the link be replaced when the wheels are loaded or with the car and wheels elevated? Any other recommendations? I get a continuous chirping sound from the rear when I go over rough pavement or a speed bump. I have been told from a Porsche alignment shop that it iby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I have been using Mobil 1 since I took delivery of my '00 S (~3/00). I used the grades as recommended by the owner's manual. The car has always run good, so I never had a reason to try a different oil. But after reading all the hype about the reduction in zinc additives in motor oils and their effect on flat tappet engines, I decided to try an oil that was recommended by many sources includingby Tony in Whittier - Main Forum
I just finished making my room reservation. A friend of mine and a past PPBBer will be going (Richard K.). We probably will be making our own self guided tour for one of the days. A scaled down Porsche Parade event. Tonyby Tony in Whittier - Events
