I have two symmetric 1" shiny spots on my top, completely symmetric right and left. I believe that these are due to the way the top folds and are actually rubs from the mechanism when the top is down.by TheFarmer - Main Forum
I had a run-in with the service chief at the dealership where I bought my 987, switched to another dealer, where I had phenomenal service. Then the service manager there was gone, replaced by the idiot at the first dealer, so I went back to the first dealer, and had fairly good help. BTW, the first dealership was where I had my Audi and BMW serviced, and I would give them both better marks thanby TheFarmer - Main Forum
If you go back to the whole concept of a shooting brake, and the need to carry your guns out to a suitable location for blasting away pheasants that your staff drive out of the corn fields. (No I did not see this just on Downton Abbey, we spent a Christmas on Lord Portsmouth's estates one year in a tenant house). A Bentley version is probably quite more suitable than some. Plus, you get to seby TheFarmer - Main Forum
OK, so not everyone has the good jack, jack-stands, patience, double-jointed knuckles, etc. but this is an easy job for an indy. When you look at what is called for in the 40,000, 60,000, 80,000 mile services they amount to 5 items to be changed, 20 items to be checked. Of course each of the "to be checked" items sits there ready for the picking - a cynic would say that the service rep looksby TheFarmer - Main Forum
It is really appropriate, and really on mark, but I am totally non-plussed that you came up with this. It is obviously a scan of an article, and not searchable, so Congrats!, Thanks! and Hats Off!!!by TheFarmer - Main Forum

No "but's" here. I have always felt that the look of a car is what you see from the driver's seat, and what you notice from there had better be outside the car - like where you are going is more important than studying the burl on your walnut dash. It will be interesting to hear whether the change in wheelbase has a significant effect on the feel of the car.by TheFarmer - Main Forum
Seriously, don't you think that your list is too long. All those codes can be simplified to give real meaning. By combining several codes, I came up with a shorter list. Excuse me, there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow Sensor Oops there is an Intake Air Temperature Problem Engine Temperature Problem Throttle Problem Engine Oxygen Problem Oil Temperature problem Engine Misfire that Damagesby TheFarmer - Main Forum
With a Newfoundland and Irish Wolfhound, I never was able to get such a great shot -- they never got in the Boxster. Sadly, I lost the Wolfhound this fall. Stay tuned, a new Newfie pup comes next week.by TheFarmer - Main Forum
We also talked about Porsche building a car above the 911 but below the 918. I guess they want to compete more with Ferrari and increase their margins, now that they have diluted the brand enough with the SUV and sedan. But I recall that Ferrari wants to build a sedan, so who is chasing who's tail here? If one of the VW-Audi-Porsche group could build a car a cut above the Miata, but not as bloby TheFarmer - Main Forum
I am afraid that because the generic light can mean that you left the gas cap loose, I tend to interpret all occasions of the CEL as that fault. It seems the easiest to fix. I agree with Mike - in today's cars you can display the miles per gallon you are getting, the directions to the nearest McDonalds, you name it - you should be able to give a reasonable message for which CEL code is going ofby TheFarmer - Main Forum
Ouch! Maybe I should donate my 05 Base with 80K miles I like what I see with the new Boxster, but I really don't want to "go upscale". This is a car where less is more. I want a 2013 Spyder. There are so many "fat" cars designed for fat people, with over stuffed seats, "infotainment" centers that serve popcorn and caramel lattes in the back seat, cars that have to simulate engine noise in tby TheFarmer - Main Forum

These numbers come and go, and what is pretty consistent is that new models sell more than models expected to be re-newed soon: i.e. 911 slightly up, boxster/cayman down. What is most notable is increase in Cayenne.by TheFarmer - Main Forum
Although I really like my 987, I think it is something of a shame that the original concept did not make it to market. It was a nice idea and a good design. Of course, concepts seldom make it to fruition, so still...by TheFarmer - Main Forum

Great point, somehow it makes me think of design theory and other aesthetic concepts, which is nice to hear on this board. Better than "I liked the 986 side vents better than the 987s" My reaction is that the side vents are echoes of the CGT, and I never thought of the MR2 on first glance. Also the lack of the clamshell seems very natural -- at least it is very good to see that the top is fabrby TheFarmer - Main Forum

I am so sorry about your trouble, but I don't really follow your argument about "'reliability' ...in this day & age". The car is 7 years old. Something broke. Is this so strange? I guess it is. It is very interesting for us old timers who's cars rusted into oblivion in 2-3 years (my father had a '72 Datsun 240Z. When he bought fiberglass fenders to put on it in '74, there was nothingby TheFarmer - Main Forum

The answer is Yes, there is a problem with the fuel indicator if you have fuel and it says no. But seriously, folks, this sounds like a problem with electronics between (and including) the fuel tank sensor and the main computer. Perhaps the fuel level sensor is occasionally sending a bad signal, or perhaps the wires occasionally lose contact or perhaps the computer sometimes throws an error. Hby TheFarmer - Main Forum
I can see the heritage! We all have to lead the way toward a new aesthetic! On the other hand, I can't wait for the concept. If anyone is going to do electric right, I will expect Porsche to be at the head of the class, and the Boxster to be the best bet for development (but can I get on the waiting list for a 551E?) Just remember - no IMS, no DFI, no HPFP.by TheFarmer - Main Forum
