I've seen pics of this car. Absolutely beautiful!by bar10dah - Cars for Sale
...or the cable, but that a small green plastic guide broke? At least, that was the case in my car, when my windows were suddenly hitting the conv top frame. There's a thread somewhere, I think in one of the Renn forums, or the 986forum, that shows how to make the repair with a $1 bike shifter cable adjuster nut.by bar10dah - Main Forum
...but I do know a well respected shop in Montgomery was charging $1,600 to replace with the $925 top from GAHH, shipped from their warehouse in CA. I asked around and that was a fair price. And that's where a lot of local car lots go to have work done on their convertible tops, including the local Porsche dealer. I just can't think of the name of the shop right now. But shouldn't matter, asby bar10dah - Main Forum
That's unfortunate. Sucks to have to wait for your new car when it's just right down the road. That sure is one beautiful car; congrats on the purchase!by bar10dah - Main Forum
Okay, so it's gone up a few bucks since the early 90s... This would definitely save you a lot of wire tracing and soldering time.by bar10dah - Main Forum
...buy a loud relay. When I broke the turn signal return gear in my '88 S-10, I bought a turn signal relay built specifically to be louder so I would be reminded to turn it off. IIRC, the standard relay was $5 and the extra loud one was $10, so very inexpensive. And it was a snap to replace.by bar10dah - Main Forum
I sure have them right about now. I've been Porsche-free, cold turkey, since last November.by bar10dah - Main Forum
But, I may be wrong. Don't always trust what you read on the internet.by bar10dah - Main Forum
I seem to remember the term "good will" being used when describing when a manufacturer pays part/all of a repair bill outside of warranty.by bar10dah - Main Forum
If Meredith isn't interested, and it's still for sale in November, I may be interested. Sending email...by bar10dah - Main Forum

Also, I replaced my top myself with a GAHH. Took about 7.5 hours. Tough, but not beyond reason. Do a lot of reading up on how to do it so you'll better understand everything as you're taking your car apart. Purchase all the parts you'll need to replace/use. Look at a lot of pictures of the job, again so you'll better understand what it is you're doing. Take your own pictures along the way sby bar10dah - Main Forum
It's the other end of a connection where the AOS tube that snakes across the top of the engine goes. It appears to be a breather valve for the left hand bank.by bar10dah - Main Forum
$925 and 6 hours of my own time since I did the install myself. Very happy with the results. The glass is smaller than the plastic, but I didn't have a single problem with rear visibility through it. In fact, looking through the rearview mirror, there's no reduction in vertical field of view, and only a minor reduction in horizontal. For my seating position/rearview mirror alignment, the glasby bar10dah - Main Forum
I may be in a position to sell my '99 Box in about six months. If that happens, I'm considering just selling the new/never installed ROW M030 kit that I have sitting in my garage. I bought these to install in my car, but they're worth more resold rather than installed in my car. If I do put them up for sale, I'll probably offer them up for $1,000 plus shipping. Local pick-up would be preferreby bar10dah - Main Forum
QuoteKrbintn If anyone knows where I should send oil sample for testing, please post. But any reputable place can do it. www.blackstone-labs.net/by bar10dah - Main Forum
Quotekentv1This will be my third in 70K miles. Quotekentv1Can I use the Bentley method to re-pressurize, without buying that special tool I'll never use again? Are you sure about that? You're on your third waterpump. Just think, if you bought the AirLift for your first waterpump change, the subsequent two would be free usage!by bar10dah - Main Forum
A Child Seat Deactivator Bar must be installed, then the DME must be programmed to accept it. A Porsche dealer, or someone that owns a PIWIS or PST2 can do this. Not the Durametric. Then one of these can be trimmed to fit in the buckle correctly.by bar10dah - Main Forum

Recharge with a can of UV dye, then find the leak that's causing you having to recharge? Could be as simple as an o-ring. Hopefully... The compressor went out in my '93 GMC. Bad bearings. Firestone said $1,200 to replace it. I didn't even bother with the dealer, but expect them to be the same, if not more. I changed it out myself, along with the orifice tube and accumulator, for ~$350 inby bar10dah - Main Forum
...you've discovered so much free time! Looking to order the TechnoPower Kit after a few other mods. Sorry it won't be soon enough for you! Maybe a couple months.by bar10dah - Main Forum
I've got a few other maintenance items to take care of first. The first being the motor mount and water pump. The second being the ROW M030 install. After that, I'm ready for the TechnoPower Kit. I'm hoping to do the Pedro's Sport Exhaust in the next couple of weeks so that'll be good to go for the TechnoPower Kit. When I do get it, I'll have it tuned for the headers, but won't get the heaby bar10dah - Main Forum
